Tap the big button. No accounts, no sign-up.

Why use this tool

  • Removes the "what shall we do?" loop that eats an hour of Saturday morning.
  • Balances cost-heavy activities with free/cheap ones across the year.
  • UK-specific — weather-appropriate picks, actual destinations that exist.
  • Pairs weekend picks with airport parking, breakdown cover, and travel insurance guidance for anything that involves leaving your area.

When to use it

  • You've got a free Saturday and neither person wants to be the one to decide.
  • A weekend without kids where "we should do something" needs to become an actual booking.
  • Recovering from a heavy work week when you want structure without decision fatigue.
  • Planning ahead 2-3 weekends when the calendar feels blank.

When to use Random Weekend Plan

  • Any recurring low-stakes decision you'd rather not spend a minute on.
  • Bike-shedding avoidance — hand small choices to the picker so you save decision-energy for the ones that matter.
  • Late-evening when your prefrontal cortex is done and you just need an answer.
  • When you specifically want randomness — not a "recommendation engine", not a ranking, just an unbiased pick.
  • Weekend / evening planning when you have time available and no committed plan.

How the picker works

Random Weekend Plan runs entirely in your browser — no servers, no accounts, no data sent anywhere. Each pick uses your browser's built-in cryptographic random-number generator (window.crypto.getRandomValues), which is uniformly distributed across the option pool.

The pool for this picker: 20 curated options. Every option has an equal probability of being selected on any given pick (about 5.00% per option).

Picker-kind picks return a single random option from the pool. If you add your own options, they're weighted equally alongside the built-in set.

If you want a deliberately weighted pick (favouring some options over others), the picker isn't the right tool — try structuring the choice as a wheel with duplicated entries, or split into two picks (category first, then item within category).

About this category

Lifestyle decisions are the low-stakes-but-recurring kind that eat mental bandwidth: coin flips, yes/no calls, morning routine choices, small habit-forming picks.

The category isn't about big life decisions — it's the friction remover for the dozens of tiny ones a normal week throws at you.

FAQ

Family-friendly?

Mixed — filter using the family-focused kids activities picker if kids are the priority.

How far ahead should I book weekend trips?

For UK weekend breaks: 3-6 weeks ahead for peak seasons (Easter, summer holidays, half-terms), 1-2 weeks for off-peak. For airport-related trips: airport parking within 24 hours of booking the flight (see our UK airport parking guide).

What insurance do I need for UK weekend trips?

Single-trip UK travel insurance is inexpensive (£8-£20) and covers cancellation + lost luggage + medical if you're staying somewhere. Not usually needed for a day out; worth it for any 2+ night trip involving a booked hotel.
